Vintage Captivator Vehicle (CAP-2)

Released in 1982, the CAP-2 (short for "captivator") was yet another mini-rig. It was also the personal vehicle of Bossk. I like the CAP-2. It's got a cool mechanical vibe to it, and it's really cool looking. It has rotating legs that are fitted with suction cups that stick to smooth surfaces. Its rotating arms feature a claw and hook to carry action figures and to capture rebels. CAP-2 also has a remotely operated spring-loaded claw.  This is another item I purchased from my friend who was selling off his entire collection. SCORE!!!!!

Vintage Personnel Deployment Transport (PDT-8)

Released in 1981, the PDT-8 was one of the first three mini-rigs to hit store shelves. 1981 also saw the release of a "Special Offer" version of the toy. It came with a free 2-1b figure and a yellow sticker on the front of its box.  Unlike its MTV-7 and MLC-3 counterparts, the PDT-8 did not survive into the Return of the Jedi era. It was cut from the line after 1982. This is another vehicle I purchased in my attempt to collect all of the mini-rigs. I couldn't find one complete with box at a good price so I opted to just get the cheapest one I could find. It looks fine displayed on the shelves with my other mini-rigs.

Vintage Armored Sentinel Transport Vehicle (AST-5)

Another vehicle in the mini-rigs collection. The AST-5  was issued in 1983 and only available in Return of the Jedi packaging. The way the figures have to lay down in the cockpit and the shape of the vehicle it kinda looks like a coffin. At bit morbid. I got this vehicle on ebay after I decided to complete my mini-rigs collection. I pretty much did. There are more from the Droids and POTF line but those are waaaaaay out of my price range. I was able to get the AST-5 with everything seen in the picture for a very nice price. Excellent!!!

Vintage A-Wing Fighter Vehicle

The A-Wing fighter was released late in the vintage Star Wars era and wasn't produced in huge numbers. As the vehicle was seen briefly in the short-lived Droids animated series, Kenner opted to issue it under the banner of their Droids line. I consider it part of the standard Kenner collection, as the vehicle was featured prominently in Return of the Jedi and the toy is virtually free from cartoonish design elements. Unfortunately, I discarded the box in an effort to conserve space while most of my collection was in totes. That has been a huge regret. ARGH!

Vintage Scout Walker Vehicle

The Scout Walker (or, as it's sometimes called, the AT-ST) is a cool toy. A button located at the back of the "head" makes the Walker's legs move up and down sporadically. The legs could also remain motionless so that the toy could stand. The Scout Walker was seen for about half a second in The Empire Strikes Back. It played a prominent role in Return of the Jedi. In the film, several of the vehicles were seen patrolling the forests of Endor, and in the battle on Endor.  In 1983, the toy was re-released in a ROTJ package. While the first ROTJ version simply updated the ESB box with the logo of the new film, the second (and much more common) release featured an entirely re-worked package, which included a new Endor-themed photo. I got the Walker when it was first released in 1982, played with it for a few times and then stored it away for many years. It now is displayed proudly in my Star Wars museum.

Vehicle Maintenance Energizer

The Vehicle Maintencance Energizer came out in 1982. The purpose of this toy was for kids to pretend to repair ships hard hit by enemy fire! Exciting!!!

The hoses with suction cups are the energizers.

 The tools are the hydrospanners.

Vintage MLC-3 Vehicle

One of the first three Star Wars Mini-Rigs to be released, the 1981 Kenner Toy Fair Catalog description of this vehicle reads as follows: "MLC-3 is a Mobile Laser Cannon used by the Rebels to fight off the invading forces on HOTH. It carries one action figure in its manually opened cockpit and has dome for protection." This is another toy I got in my adult years. It was given to me as is. Not much to write about this but it is a cool item to have in my collection.
