I got this book way back in 1988. It was that time when a friend was giving up his whole collection to me! Yay, me!!!!
The book features artwork accompanied by a short explanation of the scene and the artist's ideas, but also script notes, posters and other information.
This first edition was published in 1979. This book presents some of the earliest concept sketches of a number of characters from the Star Wars universe, including early impressions of the helmet of Darth Vader, C-3PO and R2-D2, Stormtroopers, the alien clientele of the Cantina, and many others.
As can be seen in the pictures, this book did not hold up well through the years. Unfortunately the glue has failed and my book is falling apart. Sigh!
